Emily is a native of Sykesville, Maryland. Her path towards becoming an acupuncturist was a led by convergence of influences, including having an acupuncturist as a neighbor when she was a child; her discovery that the body and the mind are truly connected in dealing with her own chronic health issues; and her study of feng shui as an art history student in college, which lead to cracking open the I Ching and learning about the classical Chinese philosophies which also govern acupuncture.
Emily earned her Master of Acupuncture degree from Tai Sophia Institute (now the Maryland University of Integrative Health), one of the first regionally accredited acupuncture schools in America. She has been a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Maryland since 2012, and she is the Continuing Education & Event Coordinator for the Maryland Acupuncture Society.
Emily believes that acupuncture can help anyone live, and enjoy life more fully. She loves listening to her clients and empowering them in their healing journey through wellness coaching. As acupuncture treats the whole person, Emily enjoys treating anyone who walks into her treatment room. However, over the seven years she has been in practice, Emily has gained specialized knowledge of treatment of anxiety/depression, headaches, sleep disorders, fertility and autoimmune conditions.
In addition to acupuncture, Emily is also a certified wellness coach and reiki certified. She is a firm believer in the healing power of laughter. In her free time Emily enjoys hiking, cooking, painting, and playing board games with friends.
