New Team Member & Give to Barcs!

We are incredibly excited to announce the arrival of a much anticipated member of our healing team, please help us welcome Kristine Shaw Southern! Kristine is from Ithaca NY and is in the process of relocating to Baltimore with her husband later this month, and we are having a difficult time containing our excitement.

Kristine’s education in Traditional Chinese medicine began in 1998, where she learned the foundations of Chinese Medicine Theory, along with Traditional Amma and Shiatsu Therapy.  She received certification as a Shiatsu practitioner from Shiatsu Institute and Therapy Center in San Francisco.  She went on to receive additional certifications in deep tissue clinical massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage and myoskeletal alignment therapy.  Her various work experience includes; shiatsu practitioner at Fuji Shiatsu in SF,  physical therapy assistant at Golden Gate Physical Therapy in SF.  Her massage therapy experience includes settings in wellness spa’s as well as working with one of San Francisco’s most esteemed acupuncturists; Dr. Johnson You L.Ac. at his therapeutic massage and acupuncture clinic.

From an early age, Kristine was drawn to the vibrancy of Chinese medicine and would visit San Francisco’s Chinatown time and again.  She was fascinated by the varieties of tea and herbal medicinals she found there and made a point of learning more and more about them each time she revisited the colorful  district.  After years of visualizing a truly multidisciplinary approach to wellness, Kristine decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture with an emphasis in integrative sports medicine.

Kristine is one of the few acupuncturists who has apprenticed under one of the leading orthopedic, sports injury acupuncturists in the world, Whitfield Reaves, L.Ac. – practitioner to many US Olympic athletes! Deeply committed to the field of integrative medicine in both theory and practice, Kristine has remained true to her original vision and brings with her a rich background of education and experience.

It goes without saying that the benefits Kristine’s addition to WW offers our patients is beyond measure. We look forward to learning and exploring the perspective and treatments Kristine offers our patients who battle with sports injuries, acute & chronic pain, degenerative conditions such as musculoskeletal & autoimmune disorders, as well as mood disorders such as anxiety and stress related conditions, and womens health including menopausal and fertility issues.
