About Myo-fascial Release

What is myofascial release?

Myofascial release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure to the myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion within the body.  Symmetrically Animated Muscle Institute (SAMI) combines myofascial release with corrective exercise to eliminate pain in the body.

During SAMI sessions, clients undergo a series of stretches that will identify where and how the connective tissue is situated inside the body. Bound by myofascial tissue muscles can be tight, sore, and hypersensitive. These signs are essential to mapping out how the body has compensated to ease pain. A SAMI Professional will use these signs to determine the appropriate action for resolving extant physical issues. After the tissue is released the muscles will be retrained and strengthened with a variety of resistance exercises. This will ensure that the neuromuscular pathways between the brain and muscle fibers are re-established for permanent use. The patient can literally pull themselves back into alignment using their own properly functioning muscle. The SAMI treatment process is a form of exercise and will result in temporary feelings of fatigue and muscle soreness. It is important that you hydrate, maintain a healthy diet and sleep. Be sure to routinely observe and strengthen your new range of motion through continued strength and balance training.
